We’re pleased to announce that our friends over at the Wood Street Mission have just secured their second batch of funding this year from our partners at OpenWork.
The Wood Street Mission focuses on lightening the load for low income families in the Manchester and Salford areas. From providing family basics such as clothes, bedding and toiletries, to their SmartStart program which helps with the cost of children attending school, they have helped hundreds of families live better lives.
TopQuote have recently commenced our second year of support for Wood Street Mission. As well as contributing to SmartStart earlier in the year, we recently delivered our annual toy donation for their Christmas Appeal, which helps to make the festive period a little more magical for struggling local families.
However, their job is never done, so we recommended that the Mission apply for funding through our partners at the OpenWork Foundation. Foundation representatives were thoroughly impressed by the mission’s work, taking particular interest in the Book Club scheme. This school holiday program allows families to spend time together whilst improving literacy, as well as providing free access to much needed reading materials for the children to take home.
We’re incredibly proud of the team at Wood Street not only for impressing the Foundation in the face of stiff competition, but for all of the incredible work they do throughout the year. They truly do make a difference to the lives of those who need it most.
