Thank you to our General Insurance Sales Team for nominating Francis House Children’s Hospice to receive our charity donation. We intend to donate an amount of money on a regular basis, to staff/customer chosen charity. The rules are that they must be UK based; and at least 80% of the money must go to the actual purpose for which it was intended (low admin fees!)… It must be a charity benefitting children.
If you have any ideas/ suggested charities, please email us and let us know!
“Francis House Children’s Hospice has been providing respite care for children and young people with life-limiting and life-shortening conditions (for which there is no known medical cure) since it opened its doors in November 1991. Francis House supports children and families from all over the North West and it is a haven where young people can forget the problems associated with their condition.
At Francis House they have around 1200 sick children and family members in their care at any one time and they provide respite care 365 days a year, 24 hours a day and provide support and friendship for the whole family. Running costs last year were £3.5 million, equivalent to £9,500 per day, and all services are given completely free.
In 2012 work started on the construction of a seven bedroom extension to provide an age appropriate environment for teenagers and young people. Due to medical advances many of the children that they care for are living much longer, many into their twenties but still require respite and caring services. Annual running costs for the extended Francis House (due to open late 2013) will be £4.6 million”.
